Subscription and billing

Cancel my subscription

iPhone Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → ScreenFine → Cancel. Takes effect at the end of the current weekly billing period.

Get a refund

Refunds are handled by Apple. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, find the ScreenFine charge, and request a refund. We can ask Apple to refund in exceptional cases; email us.

Change the payment method

Apple ID → Payment & Shipping. We never see your card details. All billing runs through Apple In-App Purchase.

I was charged after cancelling

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current weekly period; the most recent charge may still apply. Past that, email us with the charge date and we will investigate.

The lock mechanism

Pause the fine jar

App → Settings → Pause Fine Jar. Locks stop firing immediately. The $1 weekly subscription continues until you cancel. Pausing does not break your streak.

Change my daily limit

App → Settings → Daily Limit. Adjust the slider, save. Takes effect on the next overage check.

Change my redemption type

App → Settings → Redemption. Pick from pushups, squats, steps, or mindful minutes. Active locks honour the new redemption immediately.

I went over but no lock fired

iOS Screen Time can take 30 to 60 seconds to surface threshold events. If a lock has not appeared after 5 minutes, force-close the app and reopen. The catch-up fine engine will reconcile any missed overage.

Apps stay locked after I unlock

iOS Screen Time caches ManagedSettings changes. Lock yourself out of the device for ~10 seconds (lock the phone), then reopen. The cache refreshes.

The pushup counter is not counting

Make sure the camera has line of sight to your face, lighting is even, and you are at arms length from the phone. The TrueDepth sensor needs to see your head; baseball caps and low light hurt accuracy. Switch to steps (HealthKit) or mindful minutes if the camera path is not working in your environment.

Account and privacy

Delete my account and all data

App → Settings → Account → Delete Account. Or email us with subject "Delete Account" from your account email. Processed within 30 days.

Export my data

Email us with subject "Data Export". You will receive a JSON dump of every record tied to your account within 30 days.

Hide app names on Wall of Shame

App → Settings → Privacy → Hide App Names on Wall. Lock events will appear but the app name will be redacted.

Mark a specific app as private

App → Settings → Privacy → Private Apps → add the app. Locks for that app never appear on Wall of Shame or in Squad feeds.

Opt out of Wall of Shame entirely

App → Settings → Privacy → Wall of Shame → Off. Default is off; it only turns on if you opted in during onboarding.

AI villain and notifications

Change my villain

App → Settings → Villain. Pick from The Banker, Grim Reaper, Tough Coach, Your Ex, The Algorithm, or New Year You.

Stop villain notifications

App → Settings → Notifications → Villain Roasts → Off. The lock will still fire; you just stop getting the roast push.

The villain feels too harsh

Switch villains. Tough Coach and Your Ex are deliberately abrasive. The Banker and New Year You are gentler. Or turn villain notifications off entirely.

Platform and compatibility

Does ScreenFine work on Android?

Not yet. iOS only at launch. The iOS Screen Time + ManagedSettings API is what makes the hard-block possible. Android Digital Wellbeing has a similar API; integration is on the roadmap.

Does ScreenFine work on iPad?

Partial support. Daily limits and locks work; some features depend on the iPhone TrueDepth camera which iPads do not have (use squats or steps redemption on iPad).

Does ScreenFine work on Mac?

No. macOS does not expose the same hard-block API. We may add a Mac companion app later.

What iOS version is required?

iOS 16 or later. iOS 17+ recommended for the latest DeviceActivityMonitor improvements.
